First Test Run of Autonomous Air Taxis in Dubai

The German startup Volocopter has recently written aviation history by flying an autonomous air taxi in Dubai. In the Emirates, the flying cars will soon be part of the normal scheduled service and Volocopter is the technology partner for this project.

“It is the only city in the world that massively promotes autonomous flying taxis and Germany will be the first country worldwide to allow manned electric multicopter”, says the CEO Alexander Zosel.

In Germany, the Volocopter car has a provisional approval as a so-called ultralight aeronautical device, and as such is the only manned drone in the world that has the license to fly. Uber has also announced plans to start air taxi in Dubai and Dallas.
