LAB

The LAB “Industry 4.0” introduces managers to the dynamic world of digital transformation with the special focus on industry 4.0 applications in automotive production. The participants will get a broad view of the actual developments as well as the trends for the future. Practical examples and experiences from the automotive sector and other leading branches will provide a deeper insight of realistic realization scenarios for the own company. The LAB will tremendously increase the creativity and the innovative power for designing the digital future in the own environment

Faculty presents state-of-the-art technological and organizational developments and practical solutions. In an inspiring and collaborative working environment a learning atmosphere is created which leads to new insights and delivers concrete solutions directly from practitioners to practitioners from the field.

LAB

The LAB “Trends and Strategies in Automotive Industry” focuses on today’s major trends in automotive industry and the resulting challenges for the automotive supply chain in the upcoming years. One of the main tasks for the automotive industry is the development of sophisticated strategies to cope flexibly with this ever-increasing complexity of their products, markets and supply chains.

The constant rising demand of E-Mobility solutions will alter supply chains in automotive industry significantly. One of the main challenges in this field resides in achieving the speed of developing new products and simultaneously set up new supply chains, where newcomers to the market appear to have advantages compared with traditional automotive manufacturers. New collaborations have to be created quickly in order to stay competitive in the long run. Autonomous driving, connected cars, smart services and big data change significantly how cars will be used and also who will be in control of the customer. With the advent of new competitors stemming from the ICT industry. Automotive industry and their managers have to realize the task of changing or extending their current business model towards being a provider of mobility solutions incorporating the integration of other mobility services.

LAB

Digitisation of the industry and the new trends in mobility are changing the logistics, especially in the automotive sector. E-Mobility is affecting the supply network because fewer parts are needed in electric cars. New technologies as 3D printing significantly reduces the handling of prefabricated parts. As a result, the collaboration between logistic service providers and automotive companies within the supply chain is changing and gaining in importance for the business.

The LAB addresses the challenges and realisations of supply chain management in a digitised manufacturing network. Managers get introduced to the fundamentals of supply chain development in a digital global environment, based on latest models and practical hints. Participants from logistics and industry work together on solutions for future challenges, based on the following hypothesis:

  • Customer demands are changing the world, based on trends like E-mobility and new vehicle concepts.
  • New technology as 3D printing, blockchain or artificial intelligence changes dramatically change the production process and reduce the physical handling of goods and part.
  • Data management and secure data handling become key competencies for companies along the supply chain, based on smart contracting.
  • Collaboration and partnership with customers and suppliers in global supply networks will be the key driver for competitiveness.
  • Supply networks need a neutral manager who acts agile and ensures the trustworthiness between the partners.

Participants learn strategies and best practices for the consistent management of supply chain and logistics issues at both strategic and tactical levels. They will work on future solutions and be able to identify opportunities to boost their profits on firm´s by improving operational performance in their supply chain.
